What is Films for Free @ BSV?
Films for Free @ BSV is our way of giving back to the film-loving community and encouraging the exploration of film.
Every couple of months (give or take) we highlight a new theme and make those films available to all who are interested in borrowing them, ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Are the free films all the crap nobody cares about?
No, far from it.
We highlight excellent films which are not readily available via (legal) online streaming services and/or On Demand. We sincerely hope you will take advantage of our free offer and enjoy all the phenomenal films that you may otherwise miss out on.

How do I find out when there is a new Films for Free @ BSV theme?
Numerous ways. You can keep checking back here, drop by the store frequently, or better yet, follow Bay Street Video on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Why are you REALLY doing this - what's the catch?
No catch. Some of our reasons are as follows:
1. It's a fairly easy way for us to give back to the community and hopefully not put ourselves out of business.
2. We hope that FREE will motivate and encourage people to explore excellent films which they might not otherwise be inclined to see.
3. We are concerned by the trend of people relying solely on streaming & On Demand services. While it is convenient, the selection pales in comparison to that which is available on DVD & Blu-ray. We believe as people walk the aisles of Bay Street Video they will be reminded of that fact... which, in turn, will lead to more business for us.
4. Film students! We used to see scores of them daily, now we hardly do at all. We fear many of them may be viewing only what is available online and missing out on some of the most important films of all time. That's not good news for the future of filmmaking... So, we'll do what we can by providing excellent films for FREE!

What are the rules for Films for Free @ BSV?
1. You will require a free Bay Street Video membership. Click here for details.
2. Up to 2 free films may be borrowed at a time per household.
3. They must be returned within 5 days, otherwise late fees will be strictly enforced.
4. You can not borrow the same films for free more than one time. Please make sure to watch them.
5. The free films can not be combined with any other offers.

Do you agree we're doing a good thing?
